CLIFTONVILLE GROTESQUE

Cross Studio asked me to  put on a show at a gallery in Mayfair and I jumped at the change to explore a new style of work.

I discovered the 'Italian Grotesque' style of tile design on a research trip to Andalucia and had been looking for an opportunity to create my own version of it so the London exhibition was perfect

.

Using the hisrtory of my local area, Cliftonville, I created a set of decorative designs - it features characters inspired by the Lido stack, the Shell Grotto, Sunbeam Photographs and much more.

 

I hope one day to turn into real tile pieces.
